Those idiots did it again!!!

Year 1994 - The elite Xth std batch of E1 was the most happening crowd in the school. The school had it's own way of ruling. The students were divided every year based on their academic marks into 4 classes E1-E4 for English medium and M1-M4 for Marathi medium. E1 & M1 were considered elite. I used to toggle between E2 & E1. In the first 5 rankings while I was in E2 and in the last five rankings while I was in E1. You must have guessed the Irony, while I was honored at home during my stay in E2s I was bashed up badly during my stunts in E1s. This continued thorugh my secondary school journey from Vth to Xth.

The board exams of Xth were just a month away. Meaning we were all on study leave after finishing our Prelims and the board practicals. A few teachers were a bit enthusiastic to see a few topers make it to the all Maharashtra Merit list. So there used to be these special lectures by renowned teachers on the tricks and trade of the board exams. It was rather very easy during those times to communicate and gather the whole class on a particular date/time. No one used mobile phones. With out even calling over the landlines the communication used to be complete. Almost all students lived in the same town. The message used to pass on verbally like a mesh network.

One fine morning at about 11am, all students of E1 gathered in their usual classroom waiting for the class teacher for about an hr now. Someone volunteered to go to the staff-room and hunt for our teachers. The teachers were relaxing and finding innovative ways to get past the empty days. Our science teacher walked into the class and there was growing silence. Everybody stood up and greeted in one voice - "Good Morning Teacher!!!"

The teacher said - "No one called you people. Who asked you to come to school today???"
