Lots of people showed sympathy and few sincerely yearned to enquire about the incident after posting the first part. Further, felt a need to clarify to the judgmental attitude of a few. Others need not bother to read further.
The bike was being driven at just 10-15km/hr that day, since the destination was just a few kms away. Moreover choose the inner road where you are not expected to drive hastily. By the time of the right turn, the bike had climbed over to the top plain of the ascending road. The Indica-sort car which hit me was roaring at a very high speed. We were at blind spot for it. One would have expected it to slow down at-least at this point. A small tempo took a right ahead of us. I too signaled and smoothly turned right….this is till what I know before the incident. Wished a Thackeray could draw a cartoon depicting the scene.
Within 5 mins there were 10-20 men surrounding us. A car halted and picked my aunty to the hospital and a few by-standers helped me too. As mentioned earlier, Ravi who rode me till the hospital, along with all my belongings, helped me locate the casualty ward where the aunty was being treated without any delay – unlike what most of Bollywood script writers are paid for. None of these men cared to be recognized. Aunty called me up lately to ask for those noble men who saved her life by bringing her to first-aid quickly, I couldn’t help her, such are these Mumbaites. During an architectural camp at IIT Mumbai, chanced upon listening to a few academicians when an American Professor resonated such great feelings towards the helping mumbaikars to our amazement. He was referring to his survival of the great mumbai floods when he was struck far off from the campus.
Luckily for me I had my senses to have stored Ravi’s no in my mobile as ‘Ravi Accident’. After about a month I called him. He was in Punjab and his ascent was Punjabi. This Punjab-da-puttar was in his home-town readying for his marital knots. Congratulated and tons of wishes. Desired to be back in the land of the Anand Sahib where the Guru got his Panj Piare, the first Singhs, and gave the war-cry to the world ‘Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji Ki Fateh’. Why won’t such a vibrating land give birth to such numerous Ravis.
Note for Google Map(mobile) users : Had inadvertently switched off' ‘Show my location’ option in the app ;)
