We are never 100% sure of written history till we have seen it ourselves. Most of human beings lack the skill to view the past as it is. So we believe on others/ancestors who make us believe that they have seen it live or heard it from true resources. So what is the use of history? It serves only if it helps. It helps only if it inspires. It is inspiring only if it gives a positive outlook to the current generation to live lives in a glorious way which brings pride to humanity. If a child in this country is constantly told from his childhood that for the past 400 years or so before Independence the country was invaded by foreign rulers, are you not creating another frustrated ABCD?
Shouldn’t you tell him that he comes from a legacy of some 5000 years of glorious civilization where kings like Bharata(who is known to have teared a lions jaw by his bare hands; not the Mahabharata one), Vikramaditya, Krishnadevaraya ruled, showcasing the best of statesmanship in the history of human civilization, noting the two great kings(vaguely remember them as Brihaspati Mishra & Kalahaveer – correct me – no mention on wikipedia) who came together in full size to block a formidable Greek invasion by one Demetrius(there are many Greek rulers by this name), further also mentioning the truth that there was a dent in power holding of the sons of soil because they got divided (our education system taught us some values too during our primary school while narrating the moral story of the old wise man on his death bed asking his sons to be united using the sticks example). Also during this dent we saw breath-holding peaks in the form of the Rani of Jhansi, the Bhagat Singh…………
‘Adrishya’, a play by young Indians(chyks)whose motto is to Harnessing Youth Potential through Dynamic Spirituality, showcases how the Aryan Invasion was such a covert brain child of the German Scholar Max Muller who was then consulted by the Rulers to find a way to establish a rule to the grassroots. Just replacing the thrones wasn’t really invading the value system, the hereditary knowledge system of this sub-continent.
(Next show in Mumbai & Navi Mumbai are slated post examinations, somewhere in may/june. Tickets will be made availabe on bookmyshow. Will keep you posted on twitter)
Below is the shortest possible origins of the popular names in AndraPradesh. Over years have learnt the art of listening(instead of hearing) to my dad’s narrations of history. Sincerely tried to put as much my grey cells can struggle to put together.
Andhra :
The piece of earth ruled by the hunters was called Andaratta (anda – hunter, ratta – state/province). It later took the name AndraRastram (rastram = pradesh).
Telangana :
The state which is placed amidst 3 major Shiva Lingas
Daksharamam, east Godavari, on the banks of Godavari River : DakshaPrajapati did his penance here. Kaleshwar, near Karimnagar (before Nizam was part of the earlier Tellakandula) : It’s near the Triveni Sangam of the South (When the two rivers Pranahita and Godavari meet we have Antarvaahini or Saraswati which is in it’s subtle form only – one needs to have subtle intelligence to understand the meaning of the emergence of the third river in the triveni sanagams across Bharat). Googling on it let me find that there’s a rare temple of Brahma too in the vicinity. Sri Mallikarjuna Swami, Karnool, on the banks of River Krishna : The history goes back to Mahabharatha where Arjuna is asked to do penance to seek the lord’s grace here in Sri Shaillam,
was named TrilingaDesham(land of 3 lingas) which over time came to be called simply as Telangana (its really easy, if we are to believe a Krishnarao can become kris too)
Telugu :
The AndraBhasha(info for foreigners : bhasha – language) in due course came to be known as Tenugu (sweet as honey) which deformed to Telugu
